COUNSELOR’S CORNER

“Care about people, not things.  Remember that things can be replaced.  People can’t.”

--Judith Crist

I am grateful to be the guidance counselor at a school that realizes that CHARACTER COUNTS!  Our developmental guidance program allows me to reach-out to all our students.  I work with children in individual and in small group sessions who have been referred by parents, teachers, and/or the students themselves.  These sessions focus on various subjects such as self-esteem, anger-management, study skills and any other topic that may arise as a need.

Character Education is an important component of each child’s educational experience at Anderson Mill.  Our trailblazers are dedicated to learning about and, in turn, demonstrating various character traits that are emphasized throughout the year.  These life skills are taught and reinforced through bi-weekly guidance lessons, bookmarks that tell more about each trait, and daily character tips on our morning news program, WAME.  Parents also receive monthly character cards that provide tips on how a particular trait can be reinforced at home.

Please look at the character words of the month listed below and discover books promoting each character trait that can be shared with your child at home.
