Dear Parent(s) and Student:

 

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to another new school year. I believe that this will be a good year for all of us. I am providing the following information to help make you aware of class rules, consequences, and grading policy. 

Classroom Rules:

  1. Be on time to class.
  2. Bring all required materials to class (pen, pencil, notebook, textbook, paper, planner, etc.)
  3. Respect the rights and property of others.
  4. Obey all school policies.

Missed Work:

  1. The student has 5 days to complete any missed assignments when he/she is absent.  It is his/her responsibility to pick up missed work and return it to me within that time frame.
  2. The student has 5 days to make up any missed tests. It is his/her responsibility to schedule a time with me before after school to do this.
  3. The student is responsible for any missed notes given in class on the day of the absence. He/She may want to work that out with a friend in the classroom, so he/she can work as a team to help each other. If he/she cannot do this, please let me know and I will help you with your notes.

Grading Policy: 

Students will be responsible for keeping a language arts notebook.

      1. Tests, DOLS, and specified writing assignments will count twice.

2. Daily work, homework, quizzes, and Vocabulary Workshop activities will count once. 

      3. DOLs will be corrected in class each day and will be taken up at the end of the week. DOLs will be counted

           as a test grade and will not be accepted late.

       4. Vocabulary Workshop activities will be assigned and students will be given adequate time to complete the

           assignments. These activity due dates will be provided on a schedule for each student. These activities will

           not be accepted late.

Accelerated Reader:

For any AR book read, students will receive the opportunity to earn extra credit points after completing the AR computer test.
