Five Literacy Goals for GMS

Each student will be required to read 25 books.
- Each student will be required to write a research paper.
- Each student will be required to learn reading and writing strategies that will improve his/her test scores.
- Each student will participate in enriched English/Language Arts classes.
- Each student will be required to write frequently in ALL classes.
Our School-Wide Sustained Reading Program
2007-2008Mondays – All ELA classes will read for the first 15 minutes of class.
Tuesdays – All Math classes will read for the first 15 minutes of class.
Wednesdays – All Social Studies classes will read for the first 15 minutes of class.
Thursdays – All Science classes will read for the first 15 minutes of class.
Fridays – All Exploratory classes will read for the first 15 minutes of class.
(Students will read 15 minutes in both of their Exploratory classes.)
