Principal's Message

    Dear Parents, Guardians, and Visitors,

Welcome to Pauline-Glenn Springs Elementary, an award winning school!  At PGS, our motto, "Where Dreams Begin" is reflective of our belief that elementary school is the foundation of a child's educational experience.  Therefore, we strive to create a warm, supportive, caring, and inviting learning environment where children are our top priority and always come first.
We are excited about the upcoming school year and all of the wonderful educational opportunities that lie ahead for our students.  Our school-wide theme for 2007-2008 " 'Wee' Care at PGS", will serve as a unifying tie among our school family as we work as a team to help every child achieve success.
" 'Wee' Care at PGS" will be woven throughout our curriculum.  We will focus on the importance of living a healthy life, giving back to our community through service projects, and displaying and promoting character education, while meeting the rigorous state curriculum standards of every academic subject.
Our goal is to provide a worthwhile and positive experience for each and every child that is placed in our hands.  We welcome your ideas, cooperation, and support.  The education of children must be a joint venture with the school and parents working together if we are to be successful in reaching our goal.
At Pauline-Glenn Springs we have an open door policy where parents and visitors are always welcome.  We invite you to volunteer as we have specific areas and needs that we may target to suit your individual strengths and talents.
We pride ourselves on teamwork, our family-friendly atmosphere, and most importantly academic achievement.  One of nine elementary schools in Spartanburg School District Six, we serve 455 students in Kindergarten through grade five.  We have been recognized with honors and awards such as the Exemplary Writing Award, The Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards, Closing the Achievement Gap, The Red Carpet Award, and Colin Powell’s School of Promise Flagship Award.  We were most recently named a South Carolina Healthy Schools Eight-Component Award Winning School!
The 2007-2008 school year is going to be fantastic!  Feel free to contact me or stop by if I can ever be of assistance.  Working together we can make every child's "dreams come true"!

Sincerely,
Ms. Jennifer Felmet Atkinson
