Overview:       Narrative Description of the Process of Defining the School’s Beliefs and

            Mission

 

Roebuck Elementary School embarked upon the task of defining its beliefs and mission by engaging in a comprehensive, consensus-building process that involved teachers, administrators, support staff, parents and community members.

After careful examination of our existing beliefs and mission statements by faculty, staff, and school stakeholders, the committee began to redefine our statements.  The revised statements were presented to the faculty and staff for input.  The committee reviewed comments to further develop the beliefs and mission statements.  The revised beliefs and mission statements were again presented and approved at a faculty meeting.  German and Spanish translations were drafted and included with our mission statement.

 

 

OUR BELIEFS

 

At Roebuck Elementary School we believe:

 

  • highly qualified educators must provide a curriculum that is aligned with the State and National Standards of Achievement and addresses the needs of all students.

 

  • teachers must use innovative teaching strategies, flexible groupings, and hands-on learning, so that students have the desire to become life-long learners.

 

  • a caring staff and a community of stakeholders nurture students, build their confidence, and provide a safe environment, in which all students can reach their goals.

 

  • schools must have an inviting climate for students,  parents, and the community, and encourages stakeholders to be actively involved in shared decision-making, innovative teaching programs, and open communication.

 

  • schools must have an atmosphere in which students, staff, parents, and community members  feel comfortable, respected, and trusting of one another.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OUR MISSION

 

The Roebuck Elementary School community provides educational experiences for the whole child in a nurturing and challenging environment, which helps prepare students to be responsible, self-reliant citizens in a rapidly changing society.
