CHARACTER COUNTS

 In keeping with the yearly theme of “ Hiking Through the Habitats”, the Character Counts program will be called “Hiking Through Habitats With Good Character”. The character traits to be emphasized this year are:  knowledge, determination, gratitude, generosity, resourcefulness, fairness, hope, conviction, and obedience.

A character trait will be introduced at the beginning of each month.

The principal gives the introduction at the time of the morning announcements along with a brief description of the character trait.  Teachers and staff members are encouraged to “catch” students who display the trait that is being emphasized.  Students are recognized over the intercom each Thursday morning by Mrs. Spears.  Certificates are displayed on a highly visible bulletin board in the hallway.

 The character trait that is being emphasized each month will be reinforced by the classroom teacher, special area teachers, the Guidance Counselor and administration.  Students will also receive bookmarks from

Chick-fil-A that highlight the character trait for a particular month, with suggestions for family discussions.
