PEER HELPER PROGRAM
Students in fifth grade are selected to serve as peer tutors in classrooms at a lower grade level or as assistants in the library or the office. The program is introduced to fifth grade students during the initial guidance visit to the classrooms. Students who are interested in participating are asked to complete an application and write a paragraph about their reasons for wanting to become a peer helper. Character traits of dependability and responsibility are important considerations in the selection process. Peer helpers are selected by a team composed of fifth grade teachers and Mrs. Spears.
