TERRIFIC KIDS

The Terrific Kids Program is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg, a civic organization in the community.  A volunteer from the club comes to the school at the end of each six weeks to recognize the selected students.

Homeroom teachers are asked to select one student from his/her class who has demonstrated improvement in some area of his/her school life.  Students are recognized over the intercom and at a special gathering that includes a Kiwanis volunteer, the Guidance Counselor and the Principal or Assistant principal.  Students receive a certificate, a pencil, a bumper sticker, and a Hardee’s coupon.

At the end of the school year one fifth grade student is selected by a committee composed of the fifth grade teachers, the Guidance Counselor and the Principal to represent the school as the “Terrific Kid of the Year”.  The selected student and his/her parent(s) are honored a luncheon sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.  Students from approximately thirty-five other schools in the community are also honored at this event.
