COVID-19 GUIDELINES
Students and staff who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms should stay at home, report the symptoms to the school nurse or supervisor and be tested for COVID-19. The results of the test should also be reported to the school nurse or supervisor.
For a negative result, a copy of the negative result or physician note must be provided to the school nurse or supervisor, and the nurse will determine when it is safe to come to school/work based on the DHEC School Exclusion List for the symptoms being experienced.
For a positive result, there must be a minimum of 5 days of isolation from the start of symptoms or the test date if there were no symptoms prior to testing. You may return to school/work on day six if symptoms have subsided and you have had no fever for 24 hours prior without fever-reducing medication. A mask must be worn on days 6 through 10. If a mask cannot be worn, you must stay out of school/work for ten full days and may return on day 11 as long as symptoms have subsided and you have no fever for 24 hours prior without fever-reducing medications. You must provide a copy of the positive test result and a note stating that the symptoms have subsided and there has been no fever without medications to the school nurse/supervisor before being released to return to school/work.
According to current DHEC guidelines, people who have been exposed to COVID-19 as a close contact do not have to quarantine as long as they exhibit no symptoms. They may continue to come to school/work. If symptoms develop, they must stay home and follow the guidelines above.
