Tag Program

Regular Route - Tag Program


Dear Parent/Guardian:


For the safety of our youngest and most vulnerable students, Spartanburg County School District Six requires that all Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade bus riders have a unique tag number that must match with a parent or guardian’s tag number at the designated stop. Students in these grade levels on regular bus routes will not be allowed to get off the bus if a parent or guardian is not present at the bus stop with the matching tag. 


Please see important details about this safety procedure below:


  • Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade bus riders will have a tag attached to their backpack.
  • Parents/guardians will receive (4) parent tags. Any adult designated by the parent will need a tag in order to receive the child.
  • Parents/guardians will be required to show the parent tag at the bus stop (must be visible to the bus driver).
  • 4th or 5th grade siblings may serve as the designee for Pre-K, Kindergarten and/or 1st grade students. These older siblings must also have a tag with the matching number. 
  • Students who do not have a parent/guardian at the bus stop with their designated tag number will be returned to their home-based elementary school. Transportation services may be suspended or discontinued with repeated incidents.
  • If a student is returned to school, the parent/guardian will be contacted and required to pick up his/her child from the school. Law enforcement may be contacted if the parent/guardian cannot be reached within a reasonable amount of time. 

 

Special Needs Transportation - Tag Program

For the safety of our elementary special needs students, Spartanburg County School District Six requires that all elementary Special Needs Transportation bus riders have a unique tag number that must match with a parent or guardian’s tag number at the designated stop. Students in elementary grade levels on special needs bus routes will not be allowed to get off the bus if a parent or guardian is not present at the bus stop with the matching tag.

  • Elementary special needs bus riders will have a tag attached to their backpack.
