Dorman High School Announces Jake Morris as Head Football Coach

Monday afternoon, Dorman’s Athletic Department announced Jake Morris as Head Football Coach. Coach Morris has been a dedicated part of the Dorman Football staff for the last nine years and served as the Associate Head Coach during the 2022 season.

Athletic Director Jon Stoehr says, “Coach Morris has been an intricate part of our athletic program and is a product of Spartanburg School District Six. We are thankful to have someone lead our program who is fully committed to our students and the District Six family. We are confident this will be a smooth transition for our players and coaches.”

Morris was named interim coach for the Cavaliers after Dustin Curtis resigned in February. Principal Bryant Roberson says, “Dorman is home for Jake, where he was an outstanding football player and an excellent assistant coach. I am certain that under his leadership, we will continue our Cavalier tradition of excellence and provide stability and continuity to our football program.”

During Morris’ time as a coach with the Cavaliers, Dorman has compiled a record of 83-29, won four region championships, and appeared in three state championship games. He has served as a head coach at every level in the Cavalier program from middle school to 9th grade to Junior Varsity and now Varsity Head Coach.

A lifelong Cavalier, Coach Morris was a captain of the 2009 Dorman State Championship football team. Morris had a decorated career as a Cavalier and was named All-State, All-Region, All-Area, and a participant in the North-South game. Morris played collegiately at North Greenville University under Coach Jamey Chadwell and was a four-year starter. While at NGU, he was a part of the Crusader teams that claimed the NCCAA National Championship in 2010, and the school’s first NCAA Division II playoff appearance in 2011 that saw the Crusaders advance to the Quarterfinals.

Coach Morris shares, “My family and I are so honored for this opportunity. This is a lifelong dream come true and we are so excited to see what the future holds for the Cavaliers.”

Coach Morris was introduced at a press conference at Cavalier Stadium on Monday.
