District Names New Dorman High School Principal

Spartanburg School District Six is pleased to announce that Mr. Joshua Dawkins will serve as the next principal of Dorman High School, beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. A proud product of District Six, Mr. Dawkins attended Jesse S. Bobo Elementary, Fairforest Middle School, and is a 2007 graduate of Dorman, marking a significant full-circle moment.

Mr. Dawkins currently serves as an assistant principal at Dorman, where he supports instructional leadership, school culture, and student success. Prior to returning to District Six last year, he built an accomplished career in Laurens County School District 55, with experience as a teacher, school counselor, assistant principal, and Freshman Academy Director at Laurens High School before becoming principal of Sanders Middle School. In these roles, he led initiatives to strengthen a positive school atmosphere, improve student achievement, and build collaborative leadership teams.

District Six looks forward to the continued success of Dorman High School under Mr. Dawkins’ leadership. Superintendent Dr. Ken Kiser shared, “Mr. Dawkins is a proven leader whose positive influence, strong relationships, and commitment to excellence will serve Dorman High School exceptionally well. We are confident in his ability to build on the school’s strong foundation and guide the Cavaliers into an exciting future.”
Mr. Dawkins is widely respected for his ability to build meaningful relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Reflecting on his appointment, Mr. Dawkins shared, “I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead the place that helped shape my foundation. I extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Kiser and those who have placed their confidence in me, as I look forward to continuing the Cavalier tradition of success.”

This move follows the recent announcement that current principal Mr. Bryant Roberson will transition to the role of District Director of Personnel and Secondary Services. Dr. Beth Haun will transition into the role of Deputy Superintendent. Please help us congratulate these outstanding leaders for their continued commitment to our students and school community.
