School Choice for the 2026-2027 School Year will open March 3, 2026.

In accordance with School Board Policy JBC, Spartanburg County School District 6 is offering limited school choice, grades 5K-8th, for the 2026-2027 academic year based on the availability of space within specific grade levels at each elementary and middle school in the district.  You may request that your child attend a school other than his or her zoned school by completing and submitting an application form to the Office of Student Services once the application window has opened.

  • Rising 6th grade applications should be submitted no later than March 27, 2026.  If possible, parents of rising 6th graders will be notified of the status of their request prior to 6th grade orientation so that the student may attend orientation at the middle school he or she will attend.
  • Rising 5K through 5th, 7th, and 8th grade applications should be submitted no later than April 3, 2026.  All parents, regardless of their student’s grade level, will be notified of the status of their request no later than June 20, 2025.

The following grades in each school are CLOSED to new choice requests due to the lack of available space for new students.  Please note, this list will be updated as grade levels approach their capacity:

Anderson Mill Elementary:  ALL grades
Arcadia Elementary:  ALL grades
Fairforest Elementary:  ALL grades
Jesse S. Bobo Elementary:  ALL grades

If your request for school choice is granted, your student must remain at the chosen school for the entire school year and may remain there through the final grade in the school. Please be aware that it is the responsibility of the family to provide transportation to and from the requested school outside of your student’s attendance zone. You must also have your student at school on time and picked up promptly at dismissal. Students must not have excessive tardies (no more than 10 unexcused tardies) in order for the transfer to remain in effect.  Also, students are expected to maintain an acceptable academic, discipline, and attendance record (no more than 10 unexcused absences).  A principal may choose to revoke transfer privileges should a student fail to meet these expectations. If you agree to the above requirements and wish to make an official request that your child attend a school other than his or her zoned school, please complete and submit the form, when made available, by the deadlines listed above
